 Chances are, you don’t know the sound of Samantha Martin’s voice yet, but she is one of the rising stars in Toronto’s roots-rock scene. Samantha Martin & The Haggard are gearing up to release their self-titled album at The Lula Lounge on Wednesday March 14th from 8-10PM. The album boldly traverses deep southern soul, roots/reggae and 50's rock n roll - "evocative of sweltering august nights and the smell of Mississippi silt." - Treasa Levasseur.

Few other artists are able to incorporate such broad genres successfully and present a cohesive sound all their own, but Samantha Martin & The Haggard have found a winning combination. The band is Samantha Martin on rhythm guitar and vocals, Mikey McCallum on lead guitar, Greg Sweetland on bass and Pete Lambert on drums. The album and the CD release show will boast Derek Downham (The Beauties) on keys, the beautiful vocals of Gospel Divas Amoy & Ciceal Levy and Marlene O'Neill, and Toronto Honky Tonk princess Dani Nash (The Pining). There will also be a few special guests throughout the evening!
